Trade secrets?
Well I was shocked when I received this book that the recipes inside are actual Ben & Jerry's flavors. I figured they would be when I bought, but I figured on being disappointed. Making these is not a complicated 40 step process like some recipes. If you love Ben & Jerry's great Ice Creams and like making your own, you will enjoy these recipes.

yummy ice cream
I tried several ice cream recipes that came with the recipe book with my ice cream maker as well as several I found online, they were all terrible, didn't freeze well, some didn't even make ice cream. Ben and Jerry's were the best recipes. The only problem I had was using the raw eggs. I e-mailed them and they told me they don't recommend using raw eggs. They told me how to pasturize the eggs or better yet use egg beaters. I have been using egg beaters in all their recipes and the ice cream comes out the same. They need to revise this book. I also asked them for some light recipes or frozen yougurt recipes which they told me they were not willing to share at this time. It would be great if they did another book with some new flavors. I recommend this book but do not use raw eggs use egg beaters instead.

Per the advice of Amazon reviewers, I bought this book along with my first ice cream maker and have been very happy.The recipes are simple yet delicious, and the kids and I have fun thumbing through the book looking for a new flavor to try (can't wait to try Egg Nog).Also cool is the brief story of how Ben and Jerry got started in the ice cream business ~ so glad to see a couple of "Vermont Hippies" triumph over bigger, meaner competitors.:o)

This really is a comprehensive, excellent instruction book and it is appropriate for people at all levels of cake decorating experience.Toba Garrett covers everything from start to finish and at the end of each lesson she provides a self-quiz that will help you see how much you have learned, practice each technique and make sure you understand the terminology that goes with this exciting career/hobby.

LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!
I love this book so much. I checked it out from the library 5 times and am now ordering it finally. The beer can chicken is the best in there. I have tried a couple recipes and love them all. Great source for those of us wondering how exactly to do something on the grill-very informative!

Terrific for the Novice or Expert!!!
This book has everything from temperature control and technique to rub and sauce recipes.It covers all the bases from porterhouse to leg of lamb to veggies to tofu, even pizza!!!I have purchased this for myself, as well as for gifts for experienced grillers and beginners.They all love it!It also takes into consideration both charcoal and gas grills.One of the best grill books I have found.

Classic Bourdain
I just wanted to chime in my two cents here after reading some of the bad reviews of this book."The Nasty Bits" is a great read and a must for any Bourdain fan.Just as "A Cooks Tour" book is a must read for all those who loved the "A Cooks Tour" t.v. show."The Nasty Bits" is a must read for anyone who is following the "No Reservations" years.It is really that simple.I can only hope that Bourdain keeps writing and lives long enough to visit every inch of this strange and beatiful planet.
Eh, nice try, Bourdain...
I'm halfway through the book and fading fast. Although I do enjoy Bourdain's style of writing, its endless barrage of power verbs and curse words, it does get tiring after a while. Is he really "barking" things at people? Really, now. Nevertheless, he makes many valid points in this collection of essays: the use of immigrants in haute cuisine kitchens, the semi-insanity of the organic movement, but above all, I believe this book lacks a sense of cohesion. These essays were, for the most part, cobbled together from previously published essays. (Some seem entirely unnecessary), not to mention that fact that I think it would have been a nice idea to include either the source/year the essay was published, because I can sense certains shifts in his perspective as a writer, even though the book gives no indication of chronology. So don't rush out to buy, but DO browse through it in a bookstore.

More recipe ideas for the guy on the go
This latest book in the Abs Diet franchise is essentially another recipe book. As the title indicates, these are quickie recipes that can be made in minutes, though they throw in a few more involved meals at the end. Be clear, these are tasty and healthful recipes aimed at the fitness-oriented individual. You don't have to necessarily be following the Abs Diet plan per se, but anyone who has adopted a weightlifting + aerobics exercise program with a high-protein, controlled-carb and controlled-fat diet will find this book has what you're looking for, especially if you want meals you can make quickly and stick into a tupperware container to eat throughout the day.
Not Bad at All
Handy book with lots of recipes that keep you on the Abs Diet. Very useful and straightforward. Could be a little better organized, but overall it's a great tool for shedding body fat.

Wonderful cookbook for a busy family
I love this book! Everything is easy to make. Lots of the ingredients are food most people keep as staples. I also like that there are plenty of photos which is always a bonus in a cookbook. I think kids will like most of the recipes. This is a must have for any one who has a family to cook for.

Betty Crocker Rocks
I highly recommend this book. I have tried 4 recipes so far and they really were easy and tasty. I wasn't able to make the crepes because my equipment wasn't very good but I just substituted tortillas!! It is a little more work than I am used to in the kitchen, but it is worth it because they food is so much more interesting with just a little more effort.

Decent quick meals
I bought this cookbook for my daughter.She loves it.She likes the simplicity and being able to put a good meal on the table quickly.For the culinary snobs, unwilling to use canned (gasp!) packaged (arrgh!) or prefab (?) food--get out your Martha Stewart cookbook and spend 6 hours making dinner!

The Best
I swear by the Betty Crocker Cookbook. I got mine before I got married (over five years ago), and I am always referring to it for tips, techniques and everyday recipes that you can't find in ordinary books/magazines. I kinda want a new one now 'cause it's even more detailed (I have the 9th Edition). Highly recommend it!

Good for beginners
This is probably one of the best cook books for new home makers (just married) or beginning hobbyist cookers (men or women). It is well written and properly indexed.

Great recipes!!
I have owned this book for years now and have never made anything from it that was not yummy!!I usually ignore the actual brand names and just use the brand that I like or that I feel is the best quality.My mother and sister also own this book and they both love it, too.

You've got to read this book!
I received this book as a gift. There are quite a few books on this subject on the market and this one is the best. I too could not put it down and finished it in 3 days. It's a huge book, a great resource that is well researched and written.. I have a few friends who've purchased this book and really loved it too. I can highly recommend this book.
No comfort food recipes
I was very disappointed that this cookbook didn't have more comfort food recipes.It used ingredients that you wouldn't normally have on hand.I was looking for recipes for meatloaf, mac & cheese.I won't buy another cookbook that I can't review first.

Pleasantly surprised

This book drove me to drink.
Very informative.This was the book I needed to give me the confidence to begin. I was curious about the subject and wanted to begin a program of diet and detoxicfication; however, I questioned the sanity of the venture.Steve Meyerowitz does a terrific job of dispelling any fears and he makes sense of the practice of fasting safely. A very complete study on the subject including a nice aray of receipes.

An Excellent Guide for Everyone to Detox and Become Healthy
I found this book to be a great tool for all methods of detoxing concerning liquids.The author explains the nutrition and healing methods of different juices concisely and without the "bull" in most books.I read through this book in an afternoon - I literally could not put it down.The author covers water, fruit juice, vegetable juice, and liquid detoxing.
Mr. Meyerwitz knows his stuff
Don't listen to the reviewers who gave this book low stars and complained that it was "too simple" or "cultish" or "anti-religious" or "too religious". They obviously didn't understand, apply, or perhaps even read through the information.

As a member in RED standing of the Divine Sisterhood of the Dancing Divas, Red Hat Society-- this is not only a great book about our group but an excellent multi-purpose cookbook as well.Some of the high points are a collection of the "Impossible" recipes using baking mix that are always easy and tasty.Additionally, a large section in the back is devoted to cooking for one or two and this is especially welcome.I tried about a half dozen recipes, each was easy to follow and turned out yummy.My only suggestion or comment is that the print is a little small, but that is simply to accomodate the large number of recipes included.A good addition to any cookbook collection and a charming gift for anyone.

I know that I will be BOO..ED but oh well
Well I bought Kids Rock by Rachael Ray and although I thought I had a hit on my hands I was dead wrong. I have made some recipes for my kids, but they responded with the 3 bite test thats it nothing more. I keep racking my brain with them I have no idea what else to do, but this book wasn't a hit with them, and therefore I rated it 2 stars. Still on the search for something MY kids will like other than Nutella and Mortadella.

I bought this book for my 10 year old and its awesome. The instructions are easy to follow and the recipes are simple enough for her to complete on her own. The food tastes great also. Rachel Ray is the best!!

Not well thought out
Although the recipes are lovely, too many of them (at least half!) have cooking times of 4 or 5 hours.So for the wonderful breakfast casserole, I'm supposed to get up at 4 a.m. to put it together for breakfast at 8?What were they possibly thinking?And I'm also supposed to run home from work at 2 p.m. to put dinner on for 6 p.m. that night?Huh?Maybe these recipes are supposed to appeal to folks who don't have jobs, and are free to start the meal at anytime (althought the 4 a.m. breakfast recipe still puzzles me).But are they really the folks who use slow cookers?Most of us want recipes that cook for at least 8 hours, so that we can put them on before we go to work and have them ready and waiting when we get home.Maybe someone at Southern Cooking needs a reality check.

This cookbook is absolutely wonderful! It runs circles around the Betty Crocker slow cooker cookbooks. I've tried several recipes, including the oatmeal, pulled pork, and breakfast casserole recipes, and they were all fantastic. This book contains a huge variety of recipes for everything from breakfast to dessert, but it does not scrimp on great dinner recipes. THE Diet!
Dr. Gallands book was recommended to me by a friend and I decided to give it a try because I was at my wits end with all the diets out there.I had tried Weight Watchers, South Beach...etc, and always lost a few pounds but gained them back and then some.After following Dr. Gallands diet for 10 days, I had lost 11 pounds.My skin actually felt smoother and my energy levels went sky high!2 months later I am down 20 pounds and have no intention of stopping.The recipes are easy, the foods are delicious and my cravings for refined sugar and flour are completely gone. I now look forward to snacking on fresh fruits and vegetables and I can even go out to restaurants and choose healthy, delicious foods.I don't look at it as a diet anymore, I look at it as a lifestyle change. This will be the last diet book you will ever buy.Trust me, If I could do it, anyone can!

The Fat Resistance Diet by Leo Galland, M.D. explains how important curing inflammation is to our over all health and how to do it with food, the side effect of this type of diet is weight loss. The book has daily meal plans, recipes, including a shopping list and lists of healthy food. The Fat Resistance Diet has exercises for stress reduction and to strengthen the torso for flexibility, which improves posture. Leo Galland, M.D. gives the reader the newest medical information and a step-by-step plans on how to become healthier. I highly recommend this book.

Fat Resistance Diet
While the book was easy to read, preparing the food is quite time consuming if cooking is not something you really enjoy.Convenience foods aren't anywhere on this diet.Everything is fresh and requires lots of chopping. For the most part, my husband and I like the foods.However, during the first two weeks of the diet I felt that I was constantly Shopping for products, Preparing food, Eating food, or Thinking about preparing the food!!! It was stressful!And after all of that work I only lost two pounds in the first two weeks. The author says you will loose six to ten pounds in the first two weeks.I've kept up the diet (four weeks now) and it has gotten easier to prepare the foods.I have lost a total of four pounds now.The biggest change for me is cooking breakfast.In the past I typically ate cold cereal and a piece of fruit.This diet requires that one set aside time to prepare omelets and frittatas for the morning meal.While time consuming (if you are in a rush in the mornings) these breakfasts taste very good!In these four weeks I've tried some new foods. He taught me how to cook
I love this guy, he taught me everything I need to know about cooking.My husband is hispanic and he says my mexican food is better than some of his family members, especially my salsas.Rick is great and I love his TV show on pbs-- his book has great authenic recipes that everyone will love.

Healthy, fast and varied
James Beard Award-winner Bayless approaches everyday cooking with two goals - easy preparation and nutritional balance, with an emphasis on one-dish meals. It has been 28 years since I was diagnosed with Celiac.Back then there was little information and fewer products available for living gluten-free.Reading this book would have been very helpful to me then, and I may have been spared much of the problems I encountered along the way.Even the Dr. who determined my disease made the error of telling me that after the villi had repaired themselves, I should try gluten again!
