Trill of the Grill
If you are looking for insparation from a very competent Chef this may be the only grilling book you may every need. If you can't live with out your 1/4 teaspoon and devorce yourself from the resulty of your own hands maybe not. Chris is upfront about the use real wood and charcole. Gas fired grill can produce tasty consistant results but were is the sole? If you dare to risk the vagirese of live fireinexact time and ever changing food products come to the light and get rid of the Mc Grill and it's spawn Mc Food. Chris is a Grill God here on the Earth. As for all the other books he has writen well Chris is a sinner and of the flesh and learned that writing cook books is like printing your own money. Not the worst of sins. Buy the book get out your old Webber and start cooking keep cooking as time goes buy you will stop using resipes and just cook as you have learned. Come to the fire and cook my sisters and brothers

A huge let down!
Admitedly, I am a big fan of Steve Raichlens' work, but I have read quite a number of other grilling/BBQ books, not to mention watching DVD's and such. This book was so hyped in many reviews, that I put it at the top of a new pile of 5 books on the subject to read, only to wonder what I missed! I agree with the review above that says it should be titled 'Carribean Grill'. Nothing wrong with that sort of flavor, just don't tout the book to be all grilling/BBQ inclusive. It's not! I only garnered a handful of recipes from the entire book. Borrow it before you buy it.

Killer Grill Thrill
This is a terrific cookbook.Of my 100+ cookbooks, this rates in my top five, along with Paul Prudhomme, Julia Child, and Marcella Hazan.These recipes are innovative, easy to follow, and truly tasty.The dishes are fairly simple, they offer some fabulous menu planning, and there are great pictures.The night I got the book, I tried the blue cheese lamb kabobs on wilted greens, along with the grilled scallops on mango relish on some friends, and I killed.I have since killed again, and will kill often with Thrill of the Grill. ... Not just for grills
I recently moved to an apartment and had to give up my charcoal grill. Happily, I've still used this cookbook and the marinades and recipes it contains to cook indoors in my oven and on my stove. The marinades are fabulously flavorful and any leftover meat makes great sandwiches.

Not Just For the Grill Barbecue Book!
I was surprised to receive this book as a gift but found great recipes for any cook, novice to experienced.Easy to follow directions, easy to find ingredients.I've had the book about 3 weeks and have tried about 10 recipes so far, impressing family and friends at several cookouts as well as some meals at home. Great marinades to prepare ahead and take along.I would definitely recommend this one as the all around summer cookbook/barbecue book to have!

A "real guy's or gal's" barbeque book!

This books gets lots of use!
I have used this book regularly since I bought it three months ago. Every recipe I've tried has been a success. There are sections for beef, poultry, lamb, vegetables, and even pizza. My favorite cookbook
Anybody that sifts through this book will quickly see that it isn't your everyday average cookbook with simple ingredients, but that is what makes this so amazing.Highly recommended for people interested in unique techniques, ingredients, combinations, and bold flavors.A great book that is well put together, contains plenty of alternatives and recommendations for substituting hard to find ingredients and is well illustrated.Perfect for an adventurous cook and tons of fun to read through and prepare recipes from.

A twist, but no more
I found this book to be a bit of a disappointment.For the record, I love their original book Fired Up! and use many of the methods described and recipes therein.This new cookbook seems more focused on tweaks to the recipes in the first book and overly elaborate new recipes.Buy their first book and you will have no regrets. ... I HAVE GIVEN THIS BOOK TO ALL MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS
This is the essential book to have. I have made almost every recipe and they all turned out soooo good. Make sure you get a very good quality grill pan like All-Clad. Even the friends I have who did not cook before now can because of this book. One pan cooking was never better!
You know what I like in a cookbook?RECIPES.
This cookbook was something of a waste--glad I got it used.The used copy I got still had the Pottery Barn sticker on the back, which comes as no surprise--I don't think that the author of this book intended to have it actually serve as a guide to cooking with a grill pan.Rather, it's a glossy throwaway publication that would look great tucked in to a gift box along with a new grill pan.
Great book for anyone who really cooks
This is a great cookbook because of it's variety and simplicity.It has a wide range of receipes (appetizers and main dishes; seafood, vegetables, and meats) that are not overwhelmingly complex.Most require readily available ingredients.It's not overly basic, but simple enough to use everyday; unlike some cookbooks that are targeted to someone who can afford to be in the kitchen all day. ... Best cook book I've owned
I love this cook book.It has helped me learn how to use a dutch oven and has the best recipes I have used.I use this cookbook almost daily in my own oven and everything I have tried is delicious!I would recomend this cookbook to anyone who is looking to dutch oven.It will be the only cookbook you will need from now on.The only other I have found like it is book 2.They are the best cookbooks I have used!

Not for beginners
While full of recipes, this book is very disorganized. For example, Beef Stew (2 different versions) appears several pages apart.Chicken soup, Chicken Supreme Soup; and a Chicken and Egg soup, while ALL are chicken soups, they are separated by several pages as well.Instructions like "dump in 1 pkg yellow cake mix" doesn't say if you are to pour in the dry cake mix or if you are to mix it into a batter form before putting it in.Somehow I think things like that would make a difference.Even the instruction for popcorn has the phrase "...put in popcorn, not too much!!" How are we to know how much is too much? Informative and helpful
I loved this book!The tips section alone was worth the price of the book, especially for a novice like myself. These people really know what they are talking about. I love having a book that can lays open or fold back - smart idea to have it spiral bound. Its good to know I can try the receipes at home and know the ones I like best before we go camping. You can cook more than just fish on a plank!
And I thought the only thing you could cook on a plank was fish or steak! This book has everything from appetizers to veggies to dessert! Cook it all on the grill!
The Sticks & Stones Cookbook
This cookbook has shown me a whole new way of grilling.I'd never planked before and this cookbook told me how and let me know what to expect.Grilling and smoking at the same time - what great flavor and simple to do.You just have to make sure your planks are well soaked as the instructions point out. Does not rate five stars!
Very disappointed.The 2 lead recipes used in the TV cooking demo as well as in the book are very good.That's it. Many ingredients are either difficult to find or unobtainable which makes some recipes practically useless, if you want to follow it for the correct results.Other recipes include the use of store-bought BBQ sauces, which can alter the taste completely, depending on what brand used.BBQ sauce recipes should have been included. Certainly not worth [the money spent on it]! Don't waste your money.Go to the BBQ or Food.tv websites for not only free, but much better results. ... Read more

An outstanding vegetarian cookbook
Of all the vegetarian cookbooks my wife and I own and use, none of them get used as much as this one does.Our copy is greasy with stains and splatters from the countless times we've mixed and cooked right next to it, studying its every word and its delicious-looking photographs.

great for beginners to advanced
I bought this book for someone who told me they would like to cook on the grill more, but doesn't know much about cooking times or any recipes for grilling, so I went to amazon and browsed through grilling books and chose the Better Homes and Gardens Gas Grill Cookbook after being able to look at some of the pages on the site (which is a great way to choose a book -it's almost like being in the book store). I was very pleased with this book - I not only found it to be a perfect gift for a beginner, but I liked the book for myself and I have been grilling for many years. Another plus is the recipes can be used in any type of cooking, so I would recommend this book to anyone who owns a grill or anyone who is looking for new ideas for meals.

The best bbq book ever....
The receipes are all original, easy to follow and foolproof. This book RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is one of the best barbecue books ever. I use several of the recipes (Apple-sauced chops, twice baked potatoes) regularly and have tried most of the other recipes at least once and none have disappointed. I heartily recommend this book to anyone who wants to add some variety to their grilling.
