5-0 out of 5 stars You Can Grill It All
Great book!! Not only are there over 400 great grilling recipes but recipes for rubs, sauces, and more. The writer also shares some historical information throughout the book making it a great read. Steve Raichlen's PBS show is the companion to this book, as many of the recipes are in there. Considering the price at Amazon this book is a lot of bang for the buck.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Grilling Cookbook
This is a handy guide for anyone looking to find new recipes for your gas grill. I love cooking on the grill, and this book provided some interesting varaitions on some old favorites. Not every recipe was 5 star, but none were terrible. I am certain there is something for everyone.

5-0 out of 5 stars Easy, quick and great tasting food
I became interested in this book after watching the TV show BBQ Bootcamp on the Food Network (try to watch that show if you can, it will help you understand the logic behind the recipes). Now that I have the book and have tried some of the unusual easy recipes I am more pleased than ever. The Beer Can Chicken alone may be the best chicken I've ever had. It's extra juicy and a little spicier than I would have expected but VERY GOOD.

5-0 out of 5 stars A perfect companion for your Gas Grill
Let me first say that I love barbecuing, and I guess you do, or you wouldn't even be checking this or any other barbecue book. I try to grill my family dinners almost every weekend, so I would have to say that I have put on thousands of barbecues this far. I own several barbecue and grilling books, and this is one of the best. I consider this book great because with the recipes on it I can try every now and then to make something a little bit different (I guess just to avoid a mutiny among my family crew, Ja Ja).
5-0 out of 5 stars Grass BBQ'ing taken to the next level!
I was always good at BBQ'ing with the Gas Grill, but i ran out of ideas on what to do next. This book is amazing, it opened up a whole new BBQ world to me, and encouraged me to experiment more. There isnt one recipie i tried that i didnt like. My personal favorite is the Briskett!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Grilling made easy
In addition to great recipes, this book also provides great grilling techniques for the novice and intermediate griller. Following the cooking instructions will always produce well seared, super moist chicken, fish and meats.

5-0 out of 5 stars Takes your grilling game to a new level
I thought I knew how to grill well and always got good compliments, but I have learned from this book and it has kicked my grilling up a notch. For example, I've learned to grill my steaks at hotter temperatures for shorter times to produce an outside with a little crust and the middle the way I like it.This is a great book for either gas or charcoal grillers.
5-0 out of 5 stars Weber's Real Grilling
I purchased this book for my brother's birthday as a companion book to Weber's Art of the Grill.Unbeknownst to me, he was a bit gunshy behind the grill and not at all confident BBQing.I was there for my nephew's birthday and happened to chat with his in-laws who were bragging about how wonderful his newly aquired BBQ was now perfectly paired with his newly aquired skills and recipes thanks to Weber's Real Grilling. He had used a new recipes every day for the 4 days prior to the birthday party and his in-laws were completely thrilled by his newly discovered skills and recipes...he had received an enthusiastic thumbs up at every meal!

5-0 out of 5 stars great cooking

Editorial Review

There's a world of grilled food out there, and Steven Raichlen seems to have wandered through all of it the State Department deemed "safe." No Afghanistan, for instance. No Iraq. But not to worry. Any decent conflict produces refugees, and nothing travels quite so easily as your own way with food. So Raichlen availed himself of restaurant cooks in this country where and when he had to--all to get right down to the meat of it.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars For browsing and cooking
For me, cookbooks have two functions. The first is to act as a spur to the imagination. A properly provocative cookbook would be one you could browse through with the same pleasure that you might take in reading an adventure novel. You get to have the excitement without the danger (or the calories). As an added benefit, you increase the store of ideas from which you put together your own cooking. Seen in this light, a book that offers
5-0 out of 5 stars Barbec ue with Steve Raichlen
This book provides an in depth process for barbecuing in the great outdoors.Steve Raichlen gives you the how to's and a history of barbecuing throughout the world. He uses a classic presentation to discuss the many fine receipes. He also goes into a brief summary of the history of each of the fine dishes.I would highly recommend this book

3-0 out of 5 stars Not quite what I was looking for
I was looking for a book about BBQ and grilling. What I got was a book of recipes. Not all that bad of a thing, but was looking for more wisdom from the apparent king of BBQ. While gas grilling is pretty straight forward for most cooks, I recently purchased a charcoal smoker/grill and sought info on this whole new area of backyard cuisine.

5-0 out of 5 stars Lobel's Guide to Meat
This is a goldmine for explaining the intricacies of meat5-0 out of 5 stars Such a unique grilling book
The Lobels' have introduced a very nice and unique cookbook with the release of this one.I own several other grilling cookbooks, and there are many good ones out there. This one is my absolute favorite because therecipes are a little more than your basic grilled steak or hamburger. Trythe grilled filet mignon with gorgonzola-scallion compound butter and thesirloin steak with rosemary brushed potatoes and red peppers.Don't forgetto try the barbeque sauce. It's fantastic. The book's contents includetips on grilling, burgers, beef and veal, lamb and pork, poultry, game andgame birds, and sauces, salsas, maranades, rubs and other condiments. There are no fish recipes so if you are looking for that specifically, findanother cookbook. If everything else sounds good to you, you will enjoythis inovative book by the Lobels'.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great book for those who like BBQ.
I love to cook, especially out in my backyard with the smoker. If this is you, then you will want this book. It has a plethora of recipes that will make you the envy of your neighborhood. It also explains the differences in slow smoking and grilling. You cannot go wrong in buying this book!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Barbecue Education
I bought this book under unusual circumstances. The day before I bought it, I complained to my sister I have way more recipes from cook books and newspaper clippings that I could ever possibly make. And I'm trying to eliminate more meat from my diet.So with a glut of recipes and a desire to eat less meat, it would only make sense for me to buy a book with 575 recipies devoted to grilling and slow smoking of dead animals. But I'm really glad I did!

This is my son's favorite tv chef;I bought this for him for his birthday, and right away made several recipes, that all worked perfectly (often they do not!)The flavors were interesting and the directions clear and helpful. The desserts are fabulous too, especially the ice cream sundae frozen pie;I've already made it twice. The cookbook is a fun read and the recipes delicious! My family loves grilled food and bobby flay just makes it more interesting with his combination of flavors and unusual food pairings.

5-0 out of 5 stars Dutch Oven cooking at it's best
For me as a German "Dutch Oven Lover" this cookbook is an easy and efficient way of learning how to cook with a Dutch Oven; the recipes are explained in detail and easy to change with other ingredients that are handy.
5-0 out of 5 stars Too Funny
I havn't had the opertunity to try the recipes yet but this cookbook is a great read. The recipes all look basic enough with a good mix of simple supermarket ingrediants as well as wild game recipes.I have about a 1/2 dozen dutch oven cookbooks and these are by far the best read so far.Unfortunatly despite the listing this is *not* spiral bound and wont stay open while cooking hands free. The second book, "more Cee dub's Dutch Oven and other camp cookin" is still spiral bound.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best ever cookbook!
Never have I laughed so much as I did reading this cookbook. The stories are great and the recipes are even better.I used this book extensively while camping this year and it was the first time I ever used a DO(dutch oven). When my very picky middle daughter started looking for seconds and thirds at our meals, I knew I had learned a good thing. If anyone is just starting out or even is already using a dutch oven, this book is a must have! 5-0 out of 5 stars "Why" as well as "how" is important
While one can not truly barbeque on a grill, this guide gets you as close as possible.Good grilling is not rocket science but this book explains what many have learned only through trial-and-error.When trying a new receipe, I always compare it with this guide. While I may prefer sauces and rubs found in my other six grilling books, this is my Bible on how to apply them. Buy this book first and use it as your standard when reviewing others. Of course, like all receipe books, you must use your own good judgement. For example, one receipe says start your salmon fillets skin side down while another says skin side up. (I think skin side up is the right way to go to get better marking and to make it easier to see how cooking is progressing.) I use this book and I give it to my friends.Enjoy!
5-0 out of 5 stars I'm getting another one for myself
I gave this book to my brother for his birthday. He is a BBQ addict - once flew to Memphis for a week, just to do BBQ research. He rarely finds anything of interest in most books or magazines. He loves this book and within the first 20 minutes of reading it (while we finished assembling his birthday cake) he announced, twice, that he had "found something".Having found the perfect gift, I couldn't be more pleased.

5-0 out of 5 stars A "Must Have" Grilling and Barbeque Book!
"The Cook's Illustrated Guide to Grilling and Barbeque" is in my opinion a "must have" book for anyone wanting to learn or improve his/her outdoor cooking skills. This book, copyrighted in 2005, appears to me to be an updated and revised version of the similar "The Best Recipe Grilling & Barbeque" book copyrighted in 2001 (which I bought at the same time). After reading through both books, I do not see any reason for purchasing the 2001 book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Delicious, full-color guide to grilling
Weber is known for great grills and who better to make a cookbook on getting the most out of them.Weber's Art of the Grill is filled with huge, full color photographs of just about every recipe offered, which is a must-have trait for me that many cookbooks lack. The recipies are definitely a little on the "high brow" side, so if you are really just looking for new ways to make burgers and dogs this is not the book for you.But if things like swordfish with mango salsa sound good to you, pick this up right away!

4-0 out of 5 stars Gas grillers unite! Finally, a book for those who have discarded charcoal.
Those readers who have discarded charcoal and lighter fluid for LPG or NG have often been ridiculed as not truly grilling. And, while I don't subscribe to that myth, cooking with gas can definitely be challenging, and is something of an art. Weber's ART OF THE GRILL has now given gas grillers a leg up into offering outstanding dishes. (If one would enjoy nothing else, the pictures in this cookbook are over-the-top.)
4-0 out of 5 stars GIVE YOUR GAS GRILL SOME LOVE.
Gas Grills may be looked down upon by VERY serious barbecuers but the fact is a gas grill is probably what most people cook on today due to its ease of use and cleanup. No waiting for coals or wood to get hot, no ashes to dump...

1-0 out of 5 stars Not really a Barbecue Book
While this book may come from a barbecue society it mostly deals with grilling instead of smoking. In addition, quite a few of the recipes lacked critical details. The "Champion's" recipes were laughable. I was hoping for more than5-0 out of 5 stars Useable Recipes
This is a FANTASTIC BOOK. It has a great deal of useable recipes in it. Unlike alot of cookbooks that just have a few. I highly recomend this cookbook. Would give it 10 stars if i could.Happy Barbecueing. It's time to fire up the Weber Smokey Mountain Smoker.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great source for BBQ recipies
If you buy this book, you wont learn how to BBQ. It doesnt cover enough (or any) on selecting meat, selecting the BBQ smoker, proper cooking technique, etc. But what you do get, that makes this a worthwhile purchase,is a huge amount of great recipies. Where else can you be be looking forBBQ sidedishes like potato salad and coleslaw, and find multiple recipiesof each? ... Read more
