Start with the wings
Barbecued Wings Charlotte Style (p. 44) makes this book worth its fantastic Amazon price. Quadrupled the recipe and served the wings to a backyard party of 75 during the 2006 Sharpie 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway. Look forward to preparing more of Mario's tailgating delights.

As a regular attendee to University of Michigan football games i can tell you that in Ann Arbor, MI, Tailgating is a religion.The spreads that some people lay out are fit for an expensive buffet.This great book contains some 90 plus recipes that run the range of the very simple such as beer brats, burgers and ribs, to exotic seafood dishes, and everything in between including dips, salsas, salads (the Chinese noodle salad is wonderful!), drinks, and desserts.There's also a great recipe for Philly cheesesteaks.

mr madden sure knows how to select great foods for this book. ihave great respect for his ability to eat. this is a very userfriendly cookbook, & i have successfully tried severalrecipes,,,they are fantastic. he may be a loudmouth, but he knows howto feed that big belly!:-) It may be Fattening, but it is WONDERFUL!!!

If you want a feel for bigtime tailgating try "A Tailgater's Guide To SEC Football" by Chris Warner.It rocks!(only if you love the SEC like I do!)

As far as the writing goes, I am not in the position to judge, as is (mrs?) Maya Blend Champion. I was responding to the persona of poor Peurto Rican Jew, and the pain that a parent must feel to find tha he/she has been written out of the family history in favor of an adopted identity. It made me think of Mary Austin, the subject of my own published writing, and how she reconciled with her mother only shortly before her death, then went on to spend the rest of her life as a self-styled desert woman who continued to try to work out her issues with her mother in her writing.

BBQing, A Way of Life
Dave Blend is a master writer. Funny, side-splitting and a hell of a guy, Dave makes me want to pack it up and move back home to Texas with his savory words about yummy BBQ! I can tell you that his book has also pleased many Alabamians. They take their tailgating mighty seriously down there, and his book has entertained my family and their friends. He has successfullypulled together the South and the Lone Star State into BBQ solidarity. We need to all go in on an RV, grab a little Salt Lick sauce, and watch some football. Thanks for this tome to BBQ and inspiring me to watch more Crimson Tide (and of course my Longhorns). The best grilling recipes!
This is a collection of over 75 recipes by the top chefs in Hawaii. It's written in a style that is so easy to read, the recipes are fabulous and it even shows you how to deep fry a turkey ( awesome and NOT greasy!) , make a fabulous seafood stew in tin foil and cook some of the best ribs you'll ever taste.

Decent book, however............
I had to return it.The publisher duplicated pages 59-90 and many pages were missing.I purchased this book brand new as a Christmas gift and I was quite embarrassed. I hope Amazon reads this and checks the books before they ship them out.

I have just finished reading the book, Titletown U.S.A. Tailgaten Cookbook and I found it to be a very creative idea. My husband and I have been Packer fans for many years and have always enjoyed tailgating before thePacker games. There is such great food prepared in the parking lot beforethe games that I always wondered how long it would take for someone toprint some of these recipes and compile them into a book. I was reallyhappy to find the Tailgaten Cookbook. It has so many quick and easy recipesthat everyone loves to eat. Another great idea is that a picture of theperson who submits the recipe is included. When paging through this book, Iactually ran across a few friends of ours.
